Students Rock the Congress: St. Helena High School
Inspired by their experience attending Napa Valley Rock the Congress, a small group of St. Helena High School students (who also serve as leaders of St. Helena High’s political activism club, Students For Change) committed to hold a Students Rock the Congress evening event at the school. The group sought an experience that would empower students and move them to action. In less than 3 weeks, they planned and implemented a robust, highly interactive program that featured presentations by student leaders and their local U.S. Congressman. The students also led a panel composed of students and progressive leaders from non-profit and government sectors, as well as hosted a voter pre-registration/registration table. The May 3, 2018 event drew a lively audience of Napa Valley community members, including students from 5 area high schools.
